Upcoming Cumberland County YMCA Programs & Events



24th Annual Peaks to Portland Swim - July 23, 2005 at 8:30 AM


 The chill of Maine's waters is enough to keep most people firmly
planted on the shore. However, on July 23rd, 160 swimmers will take a
bold plunge into Casco Bay when the 24th Annual YMCA Peaks to Portland
Swim gets underway. Participants in this 2.4-mile swim from Peaks Island
to East End Beach in Portland come from across the country and battle
the cold, choppy ocean for many different reasons.

Though the 160 spots allotted for this year's event are already filled,
there are other ways to get involved. Friends, family and spectators are
invited to fill East End Beach to cheer on these hardy swimmers. What
could be better at the end of July than an exciting day at the beach?
This year we will also be hosting a post-swim BBQ right on the beach
(provided by Uncle Billy's Bar-B-Que of Yarmouth).  The food will be
great and anyone interested is encouraged to purchase your tickets as
soon as possible.


All proceeds from the swim go directly to the Cumberland County YMCA's 
Annual Scholarship Drive <http://www.cumberlandcountyymca.org/ybd.htm> ,
ensuring that no one will ever be turned away from a YMCA program or
service because of inability to pay.  For more information on this

Before & After School Care - Registering Now


 What are your kids doing before or after school next year?  Sign them
up for YMCA School Age programs, where they can enjoy all of the extras
that the YMCA can provide!
